![]() PROCLAMATION: WHEREAS, as part of the City of Wilmington's 175th Birthday celebration, we are very pleased to honor those historic organizations and businesses that have called our great City home for generations; and WHEREAS, designated on the National Register of Historic Places, Kelly's Logan House, founded in 1864, celebrates its 143rd Anniversary in the vibrant Trolley Square Community this year; and WHEREAS, "Whiskers" Kelly purchased the current location of Kelly's Logan House in 1889. The building has been family owned since that time. It was originally a hotel named after Civil War Hero, General John Logan, hence the name Logan House; and WHEREAS, the Logan House has hosted such notable figures as Al Capone, Wild Bill Hickock, and John L. Sullivan. Locala could be seen arriving on horseback to have a draft with friends at Kelly's towards the end of the 19th century; and WHEREAS, the City of Wilmington is pleased to recognize Kelly's Logan House on their 143rd Anniversary and thanks the Kelly Family for bringing their abundant energy, creativity, and entrepreneurial spirit to our great City. NOW, THEREFORE, I, JAMES M. BAKER, Mayor of the City of Wilmington, Delaware do hereby recognize Kelly's Logan House as the "Oldest Tavern in Wilmington" and ask all citizens to join me in honoring the owners, employees, and patrons of this wonderful landmark of our beautiful and historic City. 7th day of March, 2007
